The election of the President of the United States is very superfical. Though the head of state does have a great bit of pull, mostly in selecting the new members of the Supreme Court, the sentate and House of Representative hold the true power. All the branches of government hold equality of power. In essence America will be the same country it always is and always was reguardless of it's symbolic leader.
This is the first year I am able to vote and I have to say the experience holds alot of pressure attached. One can't just simple cast a vote, instead it involves servere scrutiny. Everyone gets so excited and it is possible to literary lose friends if the subject is approached. I am a republican, but never will I boldly declare my conservatism. The importance of party choice is multiplied as the election day approaches, and passions tend to rise.
I guess the reason the election is important to me is because it is my first time even being involved in one. Never as a child do I ever remember having to research presidential candidates nor did I imagine myself stressed over who is the best pick. It is enough to drive a person insane. Lucky it is almost over, but all I can imagine is the worst. How can anyone see the bright side when all the candiadates black- mail and mud-sling. It almost makes a person want to vote independent. Who knows maybe I will get so irritated that I'll vote for Nader.

Do you think America has remained exactly the same over the past 8 -15 years? Maybe the leader of the country does make a difference? Pleased to see you have taken an active interest in this year's election.
Election time is a stressful time. People do get so over loaded on the election that people have lost friends and really why? The first year of being about to vot does howld a lot of pressure on the fact that this is your first time and that you are helping make history.
